Hollywood Walk of Fame + "Four Ladies of Hollywood"
What is the difference between Hollywood Walk of Fame and the Allee of stars' prints inside it? Everything is very simple. The first is much smaller, and the opportunities to get here were rewarded only by less than 200 representatives of the cinema. It located in the courtyard of the Grauman's Chinese Theater on Hollywood Boulevard, Vine Street. Here are prints of hands, feet, and ... even the paws of movie stars on concrete slabs. Alley of stars' prints annually visited by about 10 million people. Plates with prints are laid on the Walk of Fame only 2-3 times a year. It's difficult to get to the ceremony, and the visibility is limited because the courtyard of the Grauman's Chinese Theater is very small.
The Alley of stars' prints appeared absolutely randomly. During the construction of the Chinese Theater Grauman, builders mixed cement in the yard. Hollywood actress of silent cinema Norma Tolmaj ran to the rehearsal and, incidentally, stepped on fresh cement. As a result, there was an imprint. Sid Grauman picked up this idea immediately and a year later, in the courtyard of this theater, footprints of movie stars began to appear. The lucky winners for the Walk of Fame were selected by the owners of the theater.
The process of leaving prints has changed slightly over the years. Previously, celebrities had to lay down on a specially spread red carpet at the entrance of the Grauman's Theater and leave prints on fresh concrete. Now the stars are only touched to the surface of the concrete form, and when the plate freezes, it is placed in the courtyard of the theater.
Who was immortalized in concrete on the Walk of Fame? The most popular plates of the Alley of prints are Charlie Chaplin, Marilyn Monroe, Michael Jackson, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Johnny Depp. And, a century ago, the stars abandoned the wishes of Sid Grauman on concrete slabs. Tradition changed later, celebrities began to leave prints of hands, shoes and personal autographs at the entrance to the theater.
The Monument "Four Ladies of Hollywood" is located at the confluence of Hollywood Boulevard, Path Marshfield and La Brea Avenue. It was created in 1993 by architect Kathryn Hardwick. It symbolizes the multinationality of the Hollywood stars. It was made of stainless steel. The monument includes sculptures by four Hollywood stars - African-American actress Dorothy Dandridge, Sino-American actress Anna Mei Wong, Mexican movie star Dolores del Rio and American actress Mae West. Critics sharply criticized the monument at first, but then the noise subsided and the sculpture peacefully continues to decorate the Hollywood Boulevard :)
