Bear Mountain, New York
New York has everything. Even mountains. You have to drive to the North of New York state, if you want to visit it. The closest mountain to NYC is the Bear Mountain in the same name National Park. Bear Mountain located among lakes. It long ago became of this mountain in a very popular place for tourists. Besides mountains, forests and lakes, there are spots for picnics, a small zoo, a swimming pool, a hotel, boats and catamarans. I even don't speak about tourist's trails under thick crowns of trees, which is very common during heat weather.
Bear Mountain State Park was opened in 1913. The land of this reserve was given partially by the government, partially by a maecenas Marie Harriman. Bear Mountain State Park was established with the financial support of John Rockefeller, George Perkins.
P. S. Our family came to Bear Mountain State Park twice. Our main goal was to reach a top of this mountain. But, we could to visit the area around only. The trail to the top was closed by the administration of this reserve. The cause was a rain. It was our first visit. The second time, we chose sunny day and came to the Bear Mountain again. The trail was blocked repeteadly, because showers were few days ago... But we don't loose a hope:)
