Santa Monica is a city in Los Angeles County, California. It was named in honor of the Christian St. Monica. The population of the town is not numerous - it is about 100 thousand people. However, this place is extremely popular among tourists. There are 325 days of sunshine a year and practically no rain. The weather of Santa Monica is always a bit cooler than in all of Los Angeles.
Santa Monica is one of the most visited places in Los Angeles, because there are plenty of festivals take palece - from music to cooking. Tourists love picturesque nature and wonderful beaches of Santa Monica. Rocks, palm trees, ocean... It's perfect mix for your holiday. Frankly, I was wonder by the beauty of the place, because I didn't have Santa Monica in my Must Have list. A special attraction is the Pier of Santa Monica.
History of Santa Monica. Tongwa Indian tribe lived in the territory of this town from the begin. Spanish explorer Gaspar de Portola discovered this place then, in 1769. Portola landed in Santa Monica, and since then, we already have a written mention of this picturesque place. Although, the official history of the Santa Monica starts from November 30, 1886. Therefore, this city can be called as young :)
